Massillon Museum to Offer Old School Drawing Workshop

News Release:  Massillon Museum to Offer Old School Drawing Workshop

The Massillon Museum will offer a one-day Old School Drawing workshop on Saturday, May 9, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Licensed art teacher Diane Gibson will welcome students of all ages and skill levels.

The class will be held outside Whittier School.  Students will meet near the front door of the school, 1212 Tenth Street, Northeast, in Massillon.  The class reflects the theme of this year's book selection for The Big Read, Old School by Tobias Wolff.

All materials will be included in the $25 class fee ($20 per Museum member). Massillon Museum classes are open to the public. Pre-registration is required for this class by May 2. Students may register by phone, by mail, or in person using cash (exact change), checks, or credit cards. For a detailed class schedule, call the Massillon Museum at 330-833-4061 or visit www.massillonmuseum.org.

The class is one of 30 local events celebrating The Big Read. This is the Massillon Museum’s eighth year to receive the prestigious National Endowment for the Arts grant for The Big Read. Local partners include the Massillon Public Library; Stark Parks; Kent State University and Kent State University at Stark; Massillon/North Canton Elks #2029; Rotary Club of Massillon; the Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce; Washington High School Drama Department; the Stark County Convention and Visitors’ Bureau; and many community volunteers.
