Massillon Museum Seeks Social Media Interns

The Massillon Museum is proud to partner with local universities to provide internship opportunities for students. Interns help the staff with ever-expanding events, research, and exhibitions, while gaining valuable on-the-job skills.

The Museum is currently seeking an intern to assist with implementation of a social media strategy to promote exhibits and programs across a variety of platforms. The intern will gain exposure to a museum infrastructure, and be taught skills that include video and image editing in PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Premiere; scanning historic documents and photographs; using digital photographic equipment to meet museum standards; posting major events and exhibits to online media calendars; and social media etiquette to reflect the Massillon Museum brand.   

The intern will be required to work across departments with multiple staff members in an effort to best represent and promote Museum activities and celebrations/anniversaries of local and national significance, and build Museum followers. This will require presence at major events—both onsite and offsite—as well as working behind the scenes on a regular basis. 

Skills required include proficiency in writing and grammar, ability to work in a team dynamic, and working knowledge of at least two social media platforms. An interest in research, marketing, and promotions is preferred.
