Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce and Massillon Development Foundation Partner with Massillon Museum

The Massillon Museum, Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce and the Massillon Development Foundation are pleased to announce the Massillon Museum has acquired the building at 137 Lincoln Way East jointly owned by the Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce and the Massillon Development Foundation.

The Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce and the Massillon Development Foundation have partnered with the Massillon Museum in an effort to provide the Museum space for future expansion.

“The Massillon Museum is an irreplaceable community asset and has a positive economic impact on our downtown,” according to Chamber of Commerce President Ted Herncane. “As the mission of the Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce is to promote economic growth and improve the quality of life for our community, we realize it is critical to afford the Museum space for future growth.”

“The Massillon Museum is an anchor for the continuing revitalization of downtown Massillon,” stated Ray Hexamer, Director for the Massillon Development Foundation. “We want to make sure this institution is a fixture in our community for generations to come.”

“We are truly pleased to have the support of both the Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce and the Massillon Development Foundation. They are fantastic community partners and are genuinely dedicated to the Museum’s mission, as well as the economic growth of Massillon and its downtown,” stated Massillon Museum Director Alexandra Nicholis Coon.

The Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce is committed to staying in downtown Massillon.  “Even though the Chamber of Commerce will be leaving our current building, we will absolutely maintain a presence in downtown so we may best serve our members and the business community,” stated Herncane.

“Now that we have acquired space for future growth, we will begin planning for the best utilization of this building,” according to Massillon Museum Director Nicholis Coon.

The current building at 137 Lincoln Way East was constructed in 1949, is adjacent to the Massillon Museum, and currently provides 3311 square feet of space.
