MassMu Holiday Window Decorating Contest
Massillon Museum is accepting entries for a juried window decorating contest! The contest is open to all Massillon area students in grades 6–12 in public, private, parochial, or homeschool settings. Students can enter individually or as a team (three students maximum per team). Twelve designs will be selected based on originality, composition, and closeness to theme.
Designs are due to the Massillon Museum by Sunday, October 9, at 5:00pm, and must be mailed, emailed, or delivered in person during hours of operation. Emailed entries can be sent to: ancoon@massillonmuseum.org with the subject line: Window Contest. The Museum will provide paints and brushes, and students will be notified if their designs are selected by October 21. Painting will take place on Saturday, November 5, between 10:00am and 1:30pm.
Students should select one of three thematic areas when creating their design!
- Positive affirmations (selections will be painted on windows near Greatness Cafe)
- Winter season
- Holiday
There are two window sizes to choose from: The larger window dimensions are 40”x66”. The smaller window dimesions are 32.25”x56.25”.

All forms must be received at the Massillon Museum by Sunday, October 9, at 5:00pm.
Painting Day is Saturday, November 5, with a rain date of Sunday, November 6, and students will have until 3:00pm on Sunday, November 6, to complete their windows should they have sports or activities on Saturday. Students whose designs are selected will be asked to confirm their ability to be present on these dates.
Massillon Museum will feature some of the young students’ artwork on its social media pages.
We will try to pair younger children with lower windows, but parents/guardians should bring a small step stool or chair.
Parents/guardians of students with selected designs will be asked to sign a waiver on the Painting Day. A parent/guardian must be present with each student/group throughout the painting event.
Eligibility:
Students can work together as a team, or as individuals. If part of a team, you may not submit a separate, individual drawing. Drawings must be submitted in color on 8 1/2- by 11-inch white paper or using the entry form furnished by the Museum; if using your own paper, please scale it to the sizes on the form.
Please refrain from using copyrighted images. Your name, home address, phone number, school, and grade must be listed on the form for the entry to be considered. No late entries will be considered.
If your drawing is chosen, you will be notified by October 21.
