Pet Portrait Painting with Sandi Phillips

Join Sandi Phillips in a painting activity for all ages and abilities. This session will allow you to create a one-of-a-kind, piece of art featuring your favorite pet! All supplies are provided. This workshop is FREE to all current Museum members.

 

Horror Writing Workshop with John and Gwendolyn Kiste

Thursday, October 21, 2021 6:30 p.m.

Join authors John Kiste and his daughter, Gwendolyn Kiste, for an online program tailored to all levels of writers with interest in the horror genre.  This Zoom discussion—FREE for members—will provide opportunities for the presenters to share their creative processes and inspiration for stories, as well as their experiences as published authors.  Time will be allowed for questions and answers, as well as for participants to share their favorite books and authors in this genre.

 

Introduction to Earth Pigment Painting with Emily Vigil

Sunday, November 14, 2021 2:30 p.m.

Have you ever been curious about making your own paints, using simple materials from the earth? In this workshop for beginners, try mixing watercolor and acrylic paint recipes using locally gathered rocks and soils, then experiment with painting using your own handmade pigments!

 

Portrait Demo and Discussion with New York-based Artist Hodaya Louis

Wednesday, December 1, 2021 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Hodaya will demonstrate different approaches to portraiture and self-portraiture, presenting examples of her artwork and entertaining questions.  You can share in the discussion and explore an array of methods to utilize at home.  This program, held digitally over Zoom, will engage all levels of experience, whether a practicing artist or simply interested in hearing about the artistic process.  FREE for members; $10 registration fee for non-members.

Plate Photography History and Workshop with Greg Martin and Mandy Altimus Stahl

Saturday, December 11, 2021 11:00 a.m.

Join photographers Greg Martin and Mandy Altimus Stahl in a FREE member session and online workshop. Mandy will share the history of plate photography, and Greg will demonstrate the process live for all to see! This is a wonderful opportunity to see how this process works. This session will be held digitally over Zoom.

 

Pet Photo Portraits and Ornaments with Anna Young and Sandi Phillips

Sunday, December 19, 2021 2:30 p.m.

Photographer and Massillon Museum staff member Anna Young will be taking photo portraits of our MassMu pet members. This free event will be held in Gessner Hall. All attending pet members must be well-tempered and leashed while onsite. Sandi Phillips will also lead an ornament making workshop where pet members can create a holiday memento for the season.
