Request for Proposals:
Massillon Museum Kitchen/Café Space

The following Request for Proposals is being issued so that the Massillon Museum may review potential tenants for the café space at 121 Lincoln Way E., Massillon, OH, located within the Massillon Museum.  Address proposals to the attention of Alexandra Nicholis Coon, Executive Director; proposals will be accepted until November 30, 2020.  Should you wish to schedule a walk-through of the space in advance, please contact Alexandra Nicholis Coon to make an appointment.


  • Kitchen area is 323 square feet
  • Public/seating area is 802 square feet
  • Appliances include:  stainless steel three-basin sink, two hand sinks, ice machine
  • Current wired to 120 V (can be returned to 220 VAC)
  • Massillon Health Dept. will have to specify cooking restrictions

Lobby Space:

  • The North end of the Museum’s lobby from the main entrance doors to the North windows can be occupied by the tenant, with the understanding that, for special events and monthly programs the tenant and landlord will collaborate on shared space.


  • Fuel type:  Electric
  • Rent includes utilities (heat, water, sewer, trash collection)
  • Phone hookup (responsibility of tenant)


  • $600/month, due on the first day of each month; includes utilities and Common Area Maintenance

Hours of Operation

  • Tenant is expected to keep hours closely aligned with those of Museum’s. Negotiations may be made for opening earlier to accommodate coffee/breakfast business. Museum hours of operation are:
    • Mondays – Museum closed, but open to discussion regarding café hours
    • Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30am – 5:00pm
    • Sundays – 2:00-5:00pm

Special Events

  • The tenant will be expected to collaborate with Museum on special events and programs. 


  • All décor and music selections must be approved by the Massillon Museum in advance. 


  • The Massillon Museum is equipped with tables and chairs and a trash/recycling receptacle.


  • As the space is expected to be an extension of the Museum in some regards, professionalism in dress and behavior is essential.


  • A variety of healthy food options is preferred.  Upon submitting a proposal, please attach a menu or proposed menu, along with a copy of your food vendor license.
