We are honored to recognize the five finalists for the 2021 Art Educator of the Year Award co-sponsored by the Canton Museum of Art and MassMu!

-Denise Boyd—Visual Arts Teacher, Greentown Intermediate School, North Canton City School District

-Amy Eibel—Visual Art Teacher, Faircrest Memorial Middle School, Canton Local School District

-Matthew J. Ferrell—Career Technical Education Instructor, Media Arts & Communication, Washington High School, Massillon City School District

-Jennifer Holland—Art Teacher, Fairless High School, Fairless Local School District

-Ashley Kessler—Art Teacher, Oakwood Middle School, Plain Local School District

This award recognizes public, private, and parochial Art Educators in the region served by the Stark County Educational Service Center who have positively impacted their students and communities, and who have shown great dedication to the field of Arts Education.

A virtual ceremony took place on Friday, March 26, at 6:00pm during which MassMu and CMA announced the Art Educator of the Year Award winner and the Canton Symphony Orchestra announced the Music Educator of the Year Award winner! About These Awards:

Information about nominations for the sixth annual Music Educator of the Year Award sponsored by the Canton Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and the third annual Art Educator of the Year Award co-sponsored by the Canton Museum of Art and Massillon Museum will be shared in late 2021. 

Nominees must be licensed Music and Art Educators in a public, private or parochial school classroom setting in Grades K-12, in the region served by the Stark County Educational Service Center.  Educators from all fields of Music and Visual Arts are eligible.  The honored Educators will be selected from a field of ten finalists chosen by a panel of qualified judges from the community.  All nominees will be recognized at a virtual awards ceremony. Former recipients of the award are not eligible to win in consecutive years.
