Artwork by Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Massillon

Fred F. Silk Community Room Gallery, September 30-October 21, 2019

The Massillon Museum invites the public to attend a reception on Wednesday, October 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., for members of the Boys and Girls Club of Massillon whose artwork is displayed in the Museum’s Fred F. Silk Community Room Gallery. The party is free, casual, and open to everyone; no reservations are required. The show can be seen from September 30 through October 21.

The annual exhibition and the reception are intended to showcase the children’s artwork, to collaborate with the club to help some of the students move to the next level of competition, and to raise awareness for the work of the Boys and Girls Club of Massillon.

For the exhibition, the Boys and Girls Club selects paintings, drawings, and digital photographs from this year’s programming. Once installed in gallery, independent jurors select winners by category and age group. At the end of the exhibition, winning artworks are forwarded to the Boys and Girls Club of America for district competition. When a child’s artwork advances as far as the national competition, he or she is flown by the national organization to its November national convention, where the finalists will be displayed.

The Boys and Girls Club of Massillon, which serves 1200 children ages six through 18, helps young people thrive by focusing on academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. The Massillon Museum is pleased to collaborate with the Boys and Girls Club to enhance the cultural life of the community.

In addition to viewing the Boys and Girls Club exhibition, visitors can see the Heritage of Harvest: The Industry of Agriculture exhibition in the Aultman Health Foundation Gallery (through October 13) and 125 Years of the Greatest High School Rivalry and Evolution of the Football Jersey in the Paul Brown Museum. The Immel Circus gallery will also be open.

The Boys and Girls Club exhibition may be seen regular Museum hours, Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. For more information, call the Massillon Museum at 330-833-4061, or visit
